IRMCo’s role
Leading the Workpackage dedicated to Knowledge Management gave us a central role to play in ProMine where we adopted a wide range of creative initiatives and practices in order to capture, integrate and transfer knowledge arising throughout the full duration of the project life-cycle.
Kickstarting with an Overall Communication Strategy and a Gender Action plan; we involved stakeholders from different trades in crucial milestones of go/no-go decision-making milestones for the newly developed products.
Based on thorough research and assessment of policies, socio-economic indicators, good practices and good governance, we compiled a set of recommendations for a Sustainable, Competitive, Responsible and Acceptable mining industry in Europe.
To disseminate the insights and results of the project, we developed a wide array of activities and material to tell the ProMine story, targeting decision-makers, prospective end users as well as the wider public.

Snippets on project outcomes
The ProMine Spiral Life Cycle served as a monitoring aid to gauge the success of our Overall Communication Strategy, which drew on a wide range of initiatives to capture, integrate and transfer the knowledge flows throughout the project.
“What are your needs, what we can offer”, was the theme of the ProMine Information workshops designed by IRMCo, for which Factsheets were compiled and distributed specifically to shed insights on the ProMine Model Sites (mining areas in Gerakini Nochten, Pyhäsalmi, and Stratoni, and the Glogow-Legnica installation) and the current socio-economic issues of the mine.
Knowledge flows within the ProMine consortium were strengthened through speed geeking and roundtable sessions, while our 2nd series of Workshops focused on the ProMine new products and their potential applications for industry.
IRMCo succeeded to present streamlined feedback in the Stakeholder Feedback Report, drawing on the outcome of the participatory workshops, the presentations at major conferences, and the extensive dialogue conducted with policy-makers on the EU Raw Materials Initiative.
The spotlight on ProMine’s achievements was brought into focus at The Mineral Marketplace in Wroclaw, on 25 April 2012, entirely designed, planned and set up by IRMCo where we strove to demonstrate the interrelationships between workpackages & tasks. Watch the EuroNews Futuris documentary and several other short videos on www.youtube.com/ProMineStory.
At the Green Innovation Expo 2012 in Tokyo we showcased the ProMine new products with samples and several promotional materials, including a brochure, a complimentary bookmark, and for impact, distributed forget-me-not seed packets with ProMine’s logo to the 2000 visitors that came to our stand.
IRMCo’s legacy to ProMine is by far the ProMine Message, which records the project’s achievements and formulates a set of well researched Recommendations from four key perspectives; that of a Sustainable, Responsible, Competitive, and Acceptable mining industry in Europe.
