IRMCo’s role

The EuroBroadMap project was aimed at arriving at an evaluation of a shared and coherent vision of Europe’s place in the world. The research targeted university students’ visions, migrants’ visions, as well as political and functional visions.

IRMCo’s main role was to analyse the project’s findings on how Europe is perceived in the visions of Europeans and non-Europeans from a gender perspective. To this effect, IRMCo drew up an overall Gender Action Plan and chaired the Gender Working Group meetings throughout the project. Our additional roles included the collection and analysis of university students’ visions of Europe in Malta and Egypt, and of women migrants’ visions arriving in Malta.

Snippets on project outcomes

As part of large worldwide survey, this report presents IRMCo’s main findings of the survey conducted among university students in Malta.

The IRMCo paper on Migration and Integration presented at the EBM Conference “Europe seen from here and elsewhere” in Rouen, December 2011, elaborates further on the outcomes of a Workshop on Somali Women Migrants held at the University of Malta, November 2010.

In the Overall Gender Synthesis presented to decision-makers at a dedicated policy workshop in Brussels in March 2012, IRMCo targeted the construction of an integrated gender vision of Europe based on the project’s visions of a Subjective; a Political; and a Functional Europe respectively.
