Within the overall aim to promote closer cooperation with counterparts in the Western Balkan Countries (WBC: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Serbia), IRMCo took the lead role in developing methodological guidelines for knowledge transfer and the exploitation of synergies in the area of surface transport.

To this effect, IRMCo also had the task to provide training aimed at strengthening the innovation research capacity in the WBC and consequently to strengthen their participation in EU funded innovation initiatives.

IRMCo’s methodological guidelines were organized in three distinct phases: Ideas Generation, Evaluation and Consolidation. The guidelines provided the basis for a training workshop led by IRMCo in Malta.

The outcome of 11 National Idea Generation Events organized in the WBC, was documented in Evaluation Summary Reports in which IRMCo analysed their impact from different perspectives.

IRMCo’s Consolidated Evaluation Summary Report brings a set of further recommendations to assist the continuous development of the innovation research capacity in the WBC.
